Friday, May 24th 2019 at the Gleneagle Hotel
The Lily of Killarney was first chosen in 1974 as part of a festival to raise funds for the Spa club. The first winner of the competition was Eileen O’Connor from Dromlusk, Blackwater. She received the Healy/Cronin Perpetual Trophy (still being presented to the winner) and a cash prize.
This year the 46th Lily of Killarney will be held in the Gleneagle Hotel on Friday May 24th, organised by the Ladies Committee of Spa GAA club. The main sponsor of the event is Killarney Credit Union.
Marie O’Keeffe, chairperson of the committee said “We would like to thank Killarney Credit Union for their ongoing support for the Lily of Killarney and indeed express our thanks to all our sponsors and supporters. On 24th May 30 girls will represent local businesses in the competition and we are looking forward to a very enjoyable night for everybody”.
The current holder of the title is Carmel O’Leary a dental nurse representing Gleesons Dental Surgery. Jim and Catherine Gleeson received the winning sponsor trophy which is kindly sponsored every year by Killarney Medals and Trophies.
Carmel has represented Spa GAA club throughout her reign at events such as St Patrick’s Day Parade, Killarney London Reunion, Ring of Kerry Cycle and many more and has been a fantastic ambassador for the club and for Killarney.
