Spa GAA was invited to share its experience of energy efficiency and grant-funded projects at the Sustainable Sports Summit 2026, held at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork on Saturday, 19 September.

Hosted by SE Systems Cork, the event brought together around 150 delegates from sporting clubs, community organisations, funding bodies and industry experts from across Munster for a practical forum focused on helping communities reduce energy costs through sport.

The summit provided clubs with practical information and guidance on energy efficiency, including real-life case studies from three GAA clubs across Munster that have completed energy projects.

Representing Spa GAA was James Cahill, who was invited to speak about the club's experience of addressing energy challenges and availing of grant opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of its facilities.

James joined representatives from Clonakilty GAA and Na Piarsaigh GAA Cork on a panel discussing the experiences of their respective clubs and the projects they have undertaken.

Also attending the event were Spa club members Michael Cronin and John O'Leary.

The event was MC'd by RTÉ sports broadcaster Marty Morrissey and provided delegates with the opportunity to engage directly with SEAI grant personnel, community finance funders and a range of industry experts and exhibitors.

For Spa GAA, the invitation provided an opportunity to showcase the work being carried out at the club in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability, while sharing its experience with sporting organisations from across Munster.

The Sustainable Sports Summit also highlighted the opportunities available to sporting clubs to reduce energy costs and improve their facilities through practical projects and grant support.

Well done to James on representing Spa GAA at the event and showcasing the work being carried out at the club.
