MUNSTER U20 CHAMPIONSHIP
Best of luck to Niall O’Mahony and the Kerry U20 team and management in the Munster U20 Football semi-final v Clare this Monday April 18th (7pm in Milltown Malbay).
U15 CO LEAGUE SPA V JOHN MITCHELS
On a beautiful evening for football our U15’s welcomed John Mitchels to Spa in our third game of the division 1 county league last Wednesday. Our boys started on the front foot and rolled off some great scores. Both sides took some good scores in the first half however our young blues went in at half time 3.10 to 0.04 to the good. To their credit the young John Mitchels side never gave up and worked their way back into the game before Spa kicked on towards the end of the game. FT. Spa 5:15 John Mitchels 3.10. Thanks to John Mitchels for a very sporting game and we wish them best of luck for the remaining of the year.
MINOR CO LEAGUE DIVISION 3
Well done to our minor team and management who have qualified for the Minor Co League Division 3 Final. They travelled to Churchill last week for the semi-final and had a narrow lead of 0-8 to 0-6 at the half time break, but a strong second half performance gave them a 2-13 to 0-8 win. Best of luck to them this Thursday April 21st in the Final against Glenflesk – game is scheduled for Rathmore with a 6.30pm throw in.
U12 GIRLS SPA V FIRIES
Our U-12 Girls first team travelled to Farranfore to play Firies in round 4 - Group 3 of the South Kerry League on Thursday 15th April. Similar to our previous week’s game, we got off to a slow start with Firies winning a lot of the 50/50 duals. A strong cross wind was blowing towards Tralee direction (common enough occurrence for anyone who has flown into or out of Kerry Airport) which was of no advantage to either side really. Our girls finally got to grips with things in the latter stages of the second quarter and went in at the break behind by just the slenderest of margins Spa 2-02 Firies 2-03. The second half was a very topsy turvy affair with plenty of possession, lovely skills & determination displayed by both teams. Thankfully our girls outscored their opponent 1-03 to 0-03 points in the second half to take the spoils on the night on a score of Spa 3-05 to Firies 2-06. But for a few wayward scoring chances by Firies and a last-minute goal-line save by Maura Joy, the result could have been much different. In summary either side would have been deserved winners on the night and we just scraped through. Many thanks to Firies for a very sporting affair and enjoyable game. Well done Julia, Alana, Ailbhe, Sam, Lily o Shea, Meadbh, Sheolagh, Aoife, Lily o Leary, Ava, Nikki, Jodi, Maura, Leah, Aisling & Orlaith.
