Club Notes (May 3rd 2021)

JUVENILE TRAINING HAS RESUMED 
We were delighted to welcome back all our juvenile groups last week. New members are always welcome and please contact the coaches or Coiste na nÓg Secretary Denise on 0871385612 or spacoistenanog@gmail.com with any queries.

Our Coiste na nÓg Training Schedule is as follows: 

ABC / Academy

*Boys & Girls (3-7yrs): Saturdays 10am-11am 

GIRLS 

*U8/U10/U12 Girls: Saturdays 10am-11am 

*U14 Girls: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm 

*U16 Girls: TBC 

BOYS 

*U9 Boys: Saturdays 10am - 11.15am 

*U11 Boys: Mondays & Thursdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm 

*U13 Boys: Wednesdays & Sundays 6.45pm - 8.15pm 

*U15 Boys: Mondays & Fridays 7.30pm - 9.00pm 

 

CONDOLENCES 
Our deepest condolences to Donie O'Sullivan and family on the passing of his wife Dr. Aine O'Sullivan RIP (Tiernaboul and Tralee). May she Rest in Peace. 

 

SPA MERCHANDISE SHOP  
The Spa GAA merchandise shop (top of the stairs in reception) will be open on Saturday mornings from 10am - 11am. Any queries on gear for adults or juveniles please contact Mathilda on 087 6487356. 

 

GOOD NEWS FOR THE GAA IN THE LATEST RE-OPENING PLAN 
There was some good news last Thursday as Taoiseach Micheál Martin announced the latest phase of the re-opening plan for Ireland over the coming weeks.

The great news for the GAA is that while underage (u18) has returned since April 26th, all other groups can return from Monday May 10th with games (without spectators) allowed from June 7th.  

As always, the most accurate and up-to-date information is available on www.gov.ie/Covid19  

The re-opening plan will be covered under 2 phases: 

PHASE 1: 

May 10th 

*Inter-county travel is permitted 

*Hairdressers, barbers, beauticians, personal services etc can re-open 

*Adult sports training to resume in pods of maximum 15 people 

*Outdoor social visits allowed (up to 3 households or maximum of 6 people) 

*Small organised outdoor gatherings allowed (max 15 people) 

*Religious services can resume with a limit of 50 people attending 

*Click and collect permitted for all non-essential retail with retail visits by appointment allowed 

*Up to 50 people allowed at weddings and funerals  

*Museums, galleries, cultural attractions and libraries can open 

*Indoor private home visiting (without masks or social distancing) allowed for those fully vaccinated 

May 17th 

*Retail can re-open fully 

PHASE 2 (If the situation remains stable): 

June 2nd 

*Hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs and self-catering can reopen (indoor dining for residents only) 

June 7th 

*Gyms, swimming pools and leisure centres can open for individual training 

*Outdoor hospitality allowed with specific safety measures in place (bars & restaurants) 

*Indoor household visits from one other household can begin again 

*Adult sporting matches can take place (but without spectators) 

*Number of guests at wedding receptions can increase to 25 

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO CLUB SECRETARY PATRICK O’REGAN 
Congratulations to our Club Secretary Patrick O'Regan who won a major entrepreneur award last week. As part of the UCC IGNITE Graduate Business Innovation Programme, Patrick’s company won the Bank of Ireland / IGNITE Best Business Award. 

Patrick is the founder of Reach The Top, an innovative platform to help streamline basketball scholarships in the USA. His company has created software to help American college sporting departments recruit athletes, saving the colleges costs, travel expenses and the administrative layers in the recruitment process.    

 

IMPORTANT CALL FOR REGISTRATION  
With club activity starting to resume from next week April 26th, we are reminding everyone that 2021 registration must be completed in advance here or through www.spagaa.com.

Registration for the year ahead is required for all members and this year, due to the ongoing restrictions, we are asking everyone to sign up online through the link to clubforce.  

  

ALLIANZ NATIONAL HURLING LEAGUE
The 2021 GAA calendar kicks off next weekend with the opening round of the Allianz National Hurling League.

Kerry will be playing Down in Austin Stack Park this Sunday May 9th at 3pm and the game will be streamed live through kerrygaa.ie (cost €5 for the livestream).  

  

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT 2021
The annual Pieta House Darkness Into Light event is happening this Saturday May 8th and everyone is encouraged to do their own sunrise moment (walk, swim, bike etc).

Registration and details are on www.darknessintolight.ie and we are asking people to send us a photo of their sunrise moment (through social channels, whats app, pro.spa.kerry@gaa.ie or 0851216359).

SPA LOTTO RESULTS 26/04/21:  
Numbers drawn: 1, 5, 10, 15. No winner and Lucky Dips receive €50 each to David Daly, Aisling Sheahan, Eoin Cronin and Mary Devane.

Our weekly Monday night Lotto draws continue and next week's JACKPOT is €7,200.

CE SCHEME VACANCY FOR A GROUNDS PERSON IN SPA
CE Scheme Vacancy for a Grounds Person in Spa GAA Club - Details available on jobsireland.ie or the local Intreo Office. The job is 19.5 hours per week and applications can be submitted on the jobsireland.ie website or email Siobhan at kaslltd.project@yahoo.com.  

The job involves clubhouse maintenance, pitch lining, hedge trimming, grass cutting, painting, car park duties and general caretaking. (Job application closes on May 18th).   

 

CO CLEAN UP TAKES PLACE IN MAY 
The annual Co Clean Up was cancelled last year but is scheduled to go ahead later this month. The clean up will take place all across the county between May 22nd and May 30th and the event will be held in compliance with current government public health advice.
