Our u14s B Team hosted Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane B team this evening in Spa in an enjoyable game that could have gone either way. Spa playing against the breeze coped very well against the Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane attack with all our defenders, giving the opposition very little room or space in which to operate. Leo O'Riordan, Keenan McCarthy, and Oisin o Sullivan were outstanding in that first half. The visitors, however, hit a purple patch late in the first half and went into the half-time break leading 3-5 to 1-3 with our goal coming from the boot of Ryan Casey. The score at half time could have been closer. Unluckily, we saw a few goal chances just going to the wrong side of the goal post. In the second half, Spa took control of the second half with our midfielders of Josh Buckley and Cian O'Donoghue starting to dominate with the wind at our backs. Our wing backs of Oisin O'Sullivan and Sean Brosnan started to drive forward, and along with Noah Murphy and Timmy o Sullivan we were knocking on the door. Maks Wesolowski was outstanding in his first competitive outing for Spa, and when he hit the net for a three-pointer, the comeback was on. Josh Buckley taged on a few points from frees, however, the clock was against us, and we couldn't take the few goal chances we got, which would have put us in touching distance of our visitors. The game finished Spa 2-8 GGC 4-6. It's was a very encouraging performance from our boys who fought hard throughout the game and have shown massive development since last year. Thanks to the Ref and GGC for a very sporting game.
