CHAMPIONS! Our Spa Minor Boys were crowned champions of the Keanes of Killorglin Minor Boys Championship Division E Shield Final following a hard-fought victory over Moyvane.
Final Score:
Moyvane 1-13
Spa 1-16
Match Report
Moyvane made a bright start, registering 1-01 within the opening minutes. Spa responded well, settling into the game with Lucas Neher rifling to the net from close range. From there, both sides traded scores in an evenly contested opening half, with the teams level at 1-06 apiece at the break.
Spa took control on the resumption and, despite a number of missed chances from play and placed balls, they ensured Moyvane never regained the lead. Both teams contributed to an entertaining second half, showcasing some excellent open football.
Standout performances for Spa came from Mark Corkery, Daithi Stack, and Mark Moriarty, while Ronan McCarthy was influential in attack—winning plenty of possession and linking play effectively with his teammates. Jonah Casey delivered an assured performance, particularly with his kickouts, often combining well with Adam Moynihan to provide a strong platform for Spa’s forward play.
Moyvane mounted a late push in the closing ten minutes, but Spa showed great composure to see out the game and secure a deserved 1-16 to 1-13 victory.
Lucas Neher was named Man of the Match for his outstanding contribution. It was a superb team performance and a notable achievement for a young Spa side, particularly as they lined out without several regular starters.
Captain Daithi Stack had the honour of lifting the Shield on behalf of the team.
Congratulations to all players and management on a fantastic win.
