Our Spa Boys U14 Season began on Tuesday evening with our A & B teams hosting Ardfert.
Boys U14s A Match
Spa 5-21
Ardfert 3-10
The A team got their county league campaign off to a great start with an impressive win.
Playing against a slight wind in the first half, Spa showed excellent movement and a real intent to move the ball forward at pace. They went in at halftime leading 3-9 to 2-7 after a well-worked opening period.
Spa really took control in the second half and dominated proceedings. Their work rate stood out, particularly in the way they pressed Ardfert’s kickouts, turning over possession and creating a steady stream of scoring opportunities. While there were a few chances left behind, Spa still added an excellent 2-11 after the break.
The defensive unit was outstanding throughout, giving the Ardfert forwards very little time or space on the ball and setting the platform for Spa’s attacking play.
Overall, a superb team performance saw Spa run out convincing winners.
Boys U14s B Match
Spa 5-2
Ardfert 4-6
Spa U14 Bs just came up short in an exciting game against Ardfert B. Spa led at halftime with three well-taken goals to Ardfert’s 1-4, after a strong opening performance.
The team showed huge work rate and commitment throughout the full 60 minutes, with plenty of skill and excellent teamwork on display.
Ardfert pushed on in the second half and edged ahead in a tightly contested finish, with the final score reading 5-2 to 4-6.
Despite the result not going their way, there were plenty of positives. The players can be very proud of their effort, and it will stand to them as the season progresses.
