Spa bounced back strongly from last week’s first defeat of the season with a deserved win over Abbeydorney in an entertaining County League clash in Spa GAA on Sunday morning.
Spa started brightly, with early scores helping them settle into the game. Some excellent link-up play resulted in a number of well-taken goals, while solid defending and a key save kept momentum on Spa’s side during the opening half. Abbeydorney responded well throughout and stayed in touch with some good scores of their own.
The second half proved tighter, with both teams defending well and scores harder to come by. Abbeydorney continued to battle and added to their tally, but Spa finished strongly with a late goal to secure the victory.
There were strong performances across the pitch for Spa, with hard work in defence and sharp finishing up front proving decisive.
The result leaves Spa in a strong position at the halfway stage of the County League campaign, with the latest standings shown below. Attention now turns to a trip to Laune Rangers this weekend, with further fixtures against Ballymac, Fossa and Glenflesk still to come in the weeks ahead.
