Spa GAA was proud to host the Dillon Quirke Foundation National Cardiac Screening Programme at the club today, with 47 of our young members availing of this fantastic and potentially life-saving service.

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) tragically claims the lives of almost two young people every week in Ireland. Through cardiac screening, underlying heart conditions can often be identified before symptoms appear, helping to protect young athletes and save lives. The Dillon Quirke Foundation continues to do incredible work in raising awareness of SADS and making cardiac screening accessible to young people across Ireland.

A huge well done to all of our young members who took part in the screening. By taking a small amount of time out of their day, they have taken an important step in looking after their health and wellbeing. We hope initiatives like this encourage even more young athletes to make cardiac screening a regular part of their sporting journey.

A sincere thank you to the medical team from Advanced Medical Services (AMS) for their professionalism and care throughout the day, and to our fantastic Spa volunteers who helped everything run so smoothly. A special word of thanks also to our Spa GAA Health & Wellbeing Committee for organising the event and bringing this important initiative to the club.

The screenings are provided completely free of charge by the Dillon Quirke Foundation. If you would like to support their life-saving work, donations can be made here:
