Minor Division 9 Final: Spa 1-10 Templenoe/Tousist/Sneem/Derrynane 5-17

Spa travelled to Kilgarvan on Monday night to face Templenoe/Tousist/Sneem/Derrynane in the Minor Division 9 Final. Unfortunately, on the night the South Kerry amalgamation proved too strong, leading after the first quarter by 1-8 to 0-2, 0-7 of their scores coming from man of the match Aidan Crowley. He had two on the scoreboard before Luke O'Neill opened Spa's account from a '65. Crowley set up Darragh Murphy for a fisted goal and added two more points. Luke was narrowly wide of goal and Timmy Moynihan struck the post before Aidan Cronin got our second point. Cormac Walsh and Aidan Cronin added Spa scores on the restart but Oisín Breen scored the amalgamation's second goal. Luke O'Neill was narrowly wide with a goal chance. With Crowley and midfielder Darragh O'Sullivan continuing to dominate, Templenoe/Tuosist/Sneem/Derrynane led by 4-10 to 0-4 at half-time.

They added a further 1-6 in the third quarter to a lone Timmy Moynihan point for Spa. The fourth quarter was our best period as the Spa side gave it everything. Luke O'Neill was denied by a great save but Oran O'Neill, Donagh Fahy, and Luke picked off good points. They were unlucky with a few chances before Emmett Spillane split the posts. A magnificent goal by Aidan Cronin followed and Oran O'Neill closed out the scoring on the night. A tough end to a very good campaign by Spa, but they could leave the field with their heads high after battling hard all through and never once losing heart.
