East Kerry Board: New Honorary President

We'd just like to say a quick " Congratulations!" to Ger Galvin, who was elected as the new Honorary President of the East Kerry Board at their annual Convention last Friday night. Over the years, Ger has served various roles with the East Kerry Board (EKB) - starting as Spa Delegate, then as the first secretary of the Referrees' Committee, followed by EKB Secretary for ten years, and then Chairman of the Board for five years.   

Annual Know Your Sport Fundraiser

We're running our annual Know Your Sport fundraiser again this year, and signups are open! Show your sporting knowledge to the world, as you attempt to be the best at predicting the winning results from 30 sporting events - taking place this year.

The entrance fee is €20, and there will be a €1,000 prize for the entrant with the most correct predictions. All funds raised will go towards the maintenance of fields, upkeep of the clubhouse and so on. If you'd like to enter, please contact John O'Donoghue on 087 940 3517.

Any senior players that wish to help us by taking entries and selling forms may also contact John, as listed above.

The closing date for all entries (and the return of the entry form) is the 31st of January.

Scor na nOg: Kerry/Munster Finals

Best of luck to our Trath na gCeist team in the Kerry County Final, which takes place in Curran's Centre of Excellence on Friday the 18th of January, at 19:00.

Additionally, best of luck to our figure and set dancers, who are representing both Spa and Kerry in the Munster final on Sunday the 20th of January, in Cappaquin.

Annual 31-Card Drive

We're now taking sign-ups for our annual 31-card drive, which sees up to 64 round tables competing for prizes!

First prize this time is €700 each for the winners, and a cut glass trophy. There will also be €150 up for grabs for six runners-up.

The knock-out stages will be played at the Torc Hotel on Friday the 22nd of March, 2019. The entry fee is €80 (that's €10 per player for a table of 8).

If you'd like to sign up, please drop into the clubhouse or contact David Herlihy, Paddy O'Keeffe or Paddy B. Lynch. The closing date for sign-ups is the 15th of March, 2019.

Operation Transformation: Ireland Lights Up

Spa GAA Club will be taking part in the Operation Transformation "Ireland Lights Up" walking challenge - every Thursday night from the 17th of January, until the 21st of February.

There will be a 1KM walking track set up within the club grounds for everyone to come along and walk at their own pace. Registration is free, and you can come and register from 19:00 to 19:30.

The track will be lit up every Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00, and refreshments will be provided afterwards. This walking challenge is available to everyone, but please note that we don't allow dogs on the grounds.

Munster Council Grant

We're proud to announce that Spa GAA was one of the Kerry clubs to receive the 2018 Munster Council Grant.

A cheque for €12,500 was presented to Chairman Michael Cronin by Ger McCarthy and Eamon Whelan at a presentation night at Currans Centre of Excellence on Monday, December the 17th.

This grant will go towards the costs of the floodlights on the top pitch, which were installed in 2017.

Spa are Scor na nOg County Champions

Congratulations to the Spa Figure and Set Dancers, who have been crowned the 2018 Scor na nOg County Champions!

Kerry GAA's Scor na nOg officer, Christy Killeen, presented the winning trophy to Spa in the Celtic Steps Arena in Killarney, last weekend. Spa also received the overall trophy, which is a huge achievement for the club and our hard-working Scor Officer (Eileen Aherne), and coaches Triona and Mairead Mangan. The dancers will represent Kerry in the Munster final, on the 20th of January in Cappoquin, Waterford.

Spa GAA Annual General Meeting

The Spa GAA AGM will take place on Friday, December the 7th, at 20:00 - in the clubhouse. All club members are requested to attend. A number of club officers are stepping down, including the secretary, treasurer, PRO and registrar. The time window for submitting nominations has closed - thanks to everyone that sent us an email!

Santa Touched Down in Spa

Santa and Mrs. Claus touched down in Spa last weekend with all the elves in tow, as all the children of spa were on the nice list!Thanks to the organising committee for a great evening of entertainment. The clubhouse was decorated beautifully, mulled wine went down a treat, and all the children received gifts and goodies.
