U-12 BoysAnother fantastic win by our U-12 boys away to Kilcummin. On a scoreline of 5-17 to 3-7. Everyone of the boys played outstanding football. Special mention to Cormac Walsh, Chris Healy, Cathal Kelly and Oran O'Neill played a important part in this win.

Spa 2-12 Listry 1-11 
Spa raced into an early lead and had 2-4 on the board by the end of the first quarter, scores from Mike McCarthy, Evan Cronin (1-0), Dan O'Donoghue (2), Jamie Spillane and Shane Cronin (1-0). Two more points from Evan Cronin and Mike McCarthy and Spa led 2-6 to 0-3 at the break. Listry put in a blistering third quarter and came within a goal, but second half points from Andrew Garnett, David Spillane, Evan Cronin (2), Mike McCarthy and Craig Hickey earned Spa another valuable 2 county league points.

East Kerry Junior League Division 2 Final

Spa 1-11 Kilcummin 1-11 AET: Played in Rathmore.
Spa had a goal on the board within the opening minute thanks to Dion Marcos and points from Brian Lynch, Shane Fenton and Jamie Spillane and Spa led 1-3 to 0-3. Kilcummin however found the net to level midway through the first half, and by half time Spa trailed 1-5 to 1-3. Spa chased the game for much of the second half and points from Dion Marcos (2), Conor Cronin and Conor Gleeson kept the scores close, and late points from Shane Fenton and Jamie Spillane pushed the game into extra time, the sides level on 1-9 apiece after 60 minutes. The first 10 minutes of extra time and the sides still couldn't be separated as a Jamie Spillane point cancelled out a Kilcummin score and, in the final few minutes of play, Aydan Mulvaney briefly put Spa in front but Kilcummin equalised to set up a replay. Final score Spa 1-11 Kilcummin 1-11. Details of replay TBC.

Clothes Collection

It's summer time and a chance declutter those wardrobes and support the underage structure in Spa. We collect clothes, shoes, bags etc, all year round. Bags can be left in Spa during the after 5pm in the lobby under the stairs. Further information contact Anne Holland 085 7780883.

Community Notes

Sympathy is extended to the local relatives of the late Pa O'Brien, Ardshanavooley, who passed away last weekend.

Spa/Valentia Re-Union

A large contingent of cyclists from Valentia and from various parts of the county, led by former, Kerry legend Mick O'Connell and accompanied by his former, playing colleague, Mick Gleeson made their way to the Spa GAA clubhouse on Saturday to support the Anthony Morris fundraiser. Club chairman Ger Mangan welcomed the group and thanked them for this much appreciated gesture. Michael Lyne on  behalf of Valentia, recalled the many great  games  between the clubs and then presented Ger Mangan with an inscribed  slab of Valentia  slate as a memento of the occasion. John Shanahan (a former playing colleague of Anthony's with Kerry) and  Mick O'Connell, also contributed and wished Anthony well with his treatment in the USA. A special word of thanks  to the Spa club members  who  supported  and stewarded the event  and to the  members of the Ladies committee and officers  who provided refreshments for all including the many visitors.

Walk on Friday evening  June 17th

The final local  fundraiser for Anthony Morris will be the
5K and 10K,  Walk in the Western Demesne on this Friday June 17th. Registration at 6.30pm and parking in the Liebherr car park courtesy of Liebherr Ltd.

Lissivigeen Area Community Alert

50 members of the Lissivigeen Area Branch of Community Alert, embarked on a very enjoyable trip around Valentia and South Kerry. Trip concluded with a meal in Jack's Restaurant, Cromane, on Thursday. A special word of thanks is extended to the organising committee for a job well done.

New Arrival

 Congratulations to Senior Lady footballer, Mairead Finnegan and Michael O'Donoghue on the birth of their first child. A beautiful daughter Grace.
