Spa Annual General Meeting 2017

A large crowd attended the AGM last Saturday night in the Clubhouse. The secretary Marie Courtney and assistant secretary Eileen Aherne, stepped down after doing Trojan work for the past two years. Andrew Garnett vacated the Assistant treasurer and was thanked for his involvement in Hop Ball and Awards night. Tim O'Connor also stepped down as Ladies football chairman but will continue coaching. He has doubled up as officer and coach for our boys and girls. Sheila McCarthy was thanked for her 13 years as Scór Officer and has many successful All Ireland titles in her role.

Coiste na nÓg meeting was rescheduled for next Thursday 19th, due to bad weather. 

East Kerry Awards

Well done to Dan O'Donoghue as he picked up his first All Star Award last week at the East Kerry Awards Gala. Rathmore did exceptionally well with 10 All Stars, while Dr Crokes received 4. Rathmore's Aidan O'Mahony received Senior Player of the Year and Shane Ryan was U-21 player. Fossa's Paudie Clifford received Intermediate POY. Hard luck to the other nominees. Each player received these awards on the East Kerry Championships run by the Board. Well done to the organising committee.

Annual Awards Night Saturday February 4th

The 3rd Annual awards night will be held in the Torc Hotel at 7.30pm. This is one of the main social events of the year and tickets sell out fast. Tickets only €20 for buffet/dance. Music supplied by The Two Mikes Band. A great night of entertainment honouring our members is guaranteed. Tickets on sale next week from committee members Andrew Garnett, Anne Holland, Afrian O'Sullivan, Sean Kelliher, Mathilda McCarthy and Ivor Flynn. Nominees will be announced next week.

'Know Your Sport' Winner 2016

Spa GAA had a very popular winner of our increasingly famous ‘Know Your Sport’. Local man Timmy O'Donoghue, from the town of Killarney, but now residing in Muckross won the 2016 edition and helped himself to a whopping €1000 first prize. Timmy, correctly predicted the winner, of 17 out of 30 events, from the 2016 sporting calendar, which was 1 more than his closest challenger.
Well known about the town, Timmy is better placed than most to pick these winners from his job as manager of Boylesports bookmakers on New Street. Timmy plans on getting his wife Nicola something nice with the winnings and already has his sights set on winning the 2017 edition of our competition.

No jackpot winner in the Killarney Heights. Numbers drawn 1,5,7,19. Lucky dip winners were Diarmuid and Amy O'Donovan, Lewis Rd. Kitty Moynihan c/o Ann Mac, Breda Lynch, Dooneen, Tommy Walpole, Coolies. Next Monday's jackpot in the Killarney Oaks Hotel will be €12,200! Community Notes

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Josephine Costello nee-O'Donoghue, Dublin and late of Tullorum, who passed away during the past week.
May she rest in peace.
