U-14 Boys

The final score in this tough fought game was St Michael's/Foilmore 5-13 Spa 2-6. Wind assisted in the first have Spa were unable to take advantage and were down 2 points at half time. HT score St Michael's 2-6 spa 2-4.St Michael's lead by 4 points when Eoghan Mulvaney hit the back of the net with a great goal. St Michael's extended their lead again to 4 points but Mulvaney struck again for another goal to reduce the margin to just one. Spa started the brightest in the second half but two quick goals from our opponents killed off any chance of Spa winning this match. Spa kept going to end with great performances from Rian O'Neill, Timothy Moynihan and Eoghan Mulvaney.

Intermediate Championship

Spa 1-12 Castleisland Desmonds 5-16A disappointing result for our seniors on Sunday as they were outplayed by a strong Desmonds side. Despite trailing by 1-7 to 0-4 early in the game they came back well to put just a point between the sides by half time 1-8 to 1-9. Four second half goals by Desmonds however finished our championship hopes for 2017.
Spa: James Devane, Eoin Fitzgerald, Matthew Moynihan, David Spillane (0-1), Michael McCarthy, Dan O'Donoghue, Eoin Cronin, Andrew Garnett, Liam Kearney, Dara Moynihan (0-2), Ciaran Spillane, Michael Foley (0-1f), Michael O'Donoghue (0-4f), Craig Hickey (0-1), Evan Cronin (1-3). Subs: Cormac Cronin, Eric O'Donoghue, Shane Lynch.
Minors
Spa played Kenmare in a keenly fought battle at home. Spa took an early lead but the visitors scored a fortuitous goal to take the initiative, before Ryan Kelliher crashed home a cracker to leave the sides level at 1-5 each at half time. The second half was a ding-a-ling affair until Conor Stack who was a colossus at full back had to retire with a serious injury 15 minutes from  the end. Despite powerful performances by Tom Fleming, Gary Vaughan and Niall McCarthy the Spa challenge faltered afterwards and Kenmare won out 4-12 and 2-10.
Minors togged out again last Friday night away to Castleisland and lost to a stronger Desmonds side.

Juniors
Our juniors began their East Kerry League with a draw against Glenflesk. The sides were matched point for point in the opening half, with Mike Murphy and Jamie Spillane (3f) on target to keep the teams level 0-4 apiece at half time. Spa stretched that lead in the third quarter with points from Alfie Giles, Jamie Spillane (2f) and John Falvey before Andrew Fitzgerald nudged a high ball past the Glenflesk keeper. Jamie Spillane hit another point before Glenflesk goaled, and a late Mikey Moynihan point levelled the game in the final minute.Team: Aaron Farrell, Dave Devane, Mikey Moynihan, Paul Russell, Mike Murphy, Eric O'Donoghue, Shane Fenton, Hugh O'Donoghue, Corey Doyle, Conor Gleeson, Aydan Mulvaney, Paul Cahill, John Falvey, Jamie Spillane, Alfie Giles.Subs: Rory O'Riordan, Andrew Fitzgerald, Michael Shannon, Brendan Lynch, Micheál Kearney

Ladies Football

Our U-14 girls played twice over the Easter Holidays. Played their back game away to Laune Rangers and lost in a nail biting finish. Started and played with 11 players but ended with the opposition playing their full compliment.
Easter Sunday played against a stronger Firies team but the girls deserve great praise for their efforts as we only have a small panel of players.
