VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE THAT NEEDS HELP AT THIS TIME
Spa GAA are part of the Community Volunteer programme and as well as the Kerry Volunteers helpline, we have a list of club members in different areas that have offered to help if called upon during these few weeks. ALL GAA ACTIVITY STILL SUSPENDED
All Clubs grounds and facilities remain closed completely until further notice. Players/Members/General Public are not allowed use of Club Grounds/Facilities for any activity including training/ recreational while these restrictions are in place.
SPA HOME SKILLS CHALLENGE CONTINUES
The Spa Home Skills Challenge continues this week and we are asking our underage members (5-16 year olds) to take part and send us your training videos. All participants will be in with a chance to win a Spa GAA training top or a €50 voucher. After the 14 days, parents can submit a short video showcasing some of the skills your child(ren) have mastered over the 14 days. Only videos submitted by parents/guardians will be accepted. Entries must be entered by Wednesday, 15th April, after which the winners will be announced.
Parents are welcome to post pictures/videos on their own social media platforms to help encourage as many participants as possible and to help spread the word throughout our community. WE’RE TRAWLING THROUGH THE ARCHIVES
With the club grounds closed and all GAA activity suspended for the next few weeks, we are trawling through the archives to bring you some memories of our Spa club down through the years! If you have any old photos, newspaper clippings, programmes etc, please send them on and we’ll get sharing our club history. Thank you to everyone who has sent in photos etc so far.
CLUB REGISTRATION REMAINS OPEN ONLINE
With the closure of GAA properties and club grounds over the last couple of weeks, registration for 2020 will remain open ONLINE only for the coming weeks. Anyone who has not registered yet is asked to do so through the link on the website spagaa.com. Notice will be given before the online page closes and GAA activity will resume once again in Spa.
EASTER BAKE-OFF
St Brigids Presentation Secondary School Killarney TY students are hosting an Easter themed BAKE OFF for primary school students. All you have to do is send a picture of your Easter-themed bake to their Facebook page @PrimarySchoolBakeOff and include your name, age and primary school. They will pick the best entries and winners will receive an Easter Egg.
GAELICPLUS SUPPORTING FRONT LINE WORKERS
A chance to help the front line workers: Helping Those That Help Us! Shane Cronin and GaelicPlus would like to support these front line workers and hope that you too will also help. In return, GaelicPlus is offering a set of jerseys for your local sports club (worth over €800). We ask that you donate as much or as little as you can through the GoFundMe Page (link on GaelicPlus pages) and comment under one of their social media posts (Twitter/FB/Instagram) with confirmation that you have donated and your sports club. If they reach €5,000 they will offer a second set of jerseys. All money raised will go towards equipment or what front line workers deem essential in their fight against this deadly virus.
SPA LOTTO
The Lotto has been suspended for the foreseeable future. The expiry dates of annual tickets and online tickets will be extended to compensate for weeks when Lotto is not held.
