U12 GIRLS SPA V AUSTIN STACKS B
Round 2 of the County League took place this evening at home in U12 Girls: Spa to Austin Stacks B.

Stacks were struggling for numbers on the night with only 11 players travelling to the fixture, so we agreed to play 11 v 11. Our girls got off to a flying start with a couple of goals and points early on and they never really looked back from there. Stacks to their credit fought on for the duration of the game, however with only 11 travelling to the fixture, it was just too much for them & our girls ran out convincing winners in the end. Some lovely scores & skills on display, but plenty to work on also.

We train again next Saturday Morning at 10am and our next fixture is away to Kerins O Rahilly's (next Wednesday 11/08 @ 19.30. Coaches Mike Doolan, Johnny Brosnan and Geraldine O Sullivan were very happy with their win on the night.

U14 GIRLS SPA V FINUGE/ST SENANS
Spa u14 girls had their last match of the league away in Finuge against Finuge/St.Senans last Saturday. Spa were missing a few players and had just the bare 15 so when 3 of our girls got injured during the game it meant every girl out there had to give their all and that they did.

It was a great display of football from both sides. Finuge/ St.Senans displayed great defensive skills despite constant attack from our forwards, Aoife O’Connell, Lara O’Neill and Grace O’Shea. Yet again an incredible work rate from our midfielders Ciara O’Donoghue and Ciara O’Sullivan kept us in it, with O’Sullivan scoring a cracking goal.

Spa’s defence was very strong with Emily-Kate Waters, Muireann Spillane and Síofra Brosnan playing brilliantly. A special mention has to go to Casey Mulry for excellent goalkeeping on the night.

They gave a very gutsy performance and definitely emptied the tank out in the pitch, they held most of the possession but our finishing let us down on the day. Finuge/St.Senans were the winners 2-10 to 1-3. Scorers for Spa were Ciara O’Sullivan (1-0), Aoife O’Connell (0-1),Caoimhe O’Neill ((0-1), Lara O’Neill (0-1).

Coaches would like to thank all the girls for their brilliant effort all through the league and we’d especially like to thank their parents for driving the girls and supporting them in all their matches.

Training for u14 girls will recommence on Tuesday 17th August 6.30-7.30 after a well deserved break.

U13 CO LEAGUE PHASE 2

Played on Sunday evening, our u13s had a great win in lovely sunshine at home. Having lost to Foilmore in the 1st phase, our boys put in an extra hard shift and showed all their skills against a strong side to get the win. Credit to this young group improving with every game

2021 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS
The draw for the 2021 club championships - Senior, Intermediate, Junior Premier and Junior - took place last Thursday evening. With the 2020 Intermediate Championship semi-finals and Final to take place first (fixtures to be confirmed once Kerry exit the All Ireland Championship), it is as of yet unclear what level or group Spa will be part of in the 2021 Club Championships.

Spa are due to play Castleisland Desmonds in the 2020 Intermediate semi-final with Na Gaeil and Beaufort meeting in the other semi-final, so until those games are played, these four clubs do not know yet if they will be Senior or Intermediate for the 2021 championships.

Based on the outcome of these remaining 2020 games, Spa could be in

A: Group 2 of the Senior Championship with Templenoe, Kenmare Shamrocks and Dr Crokes or

B: Group 2 of the Intermediate Championship with Glenflesk, Ardfert and St Mary’s or Waterville or

C: Group 3 of the Intermediate Championship with Glenbeigh/Glencar, Currow and Rathmore.
