SPA WALKING TRACK
Our field committee have been busy recently working on creating a new walking track in Spa. The idea of a walking track first came about in early 2019 when some of our wonderful volunteers signed us up to take part in RTE’s Operation Transformation campaign in conjunction with the GAA, called Ireland Lights Up. GAA clubs across the country were invited to put their floodlights on at their club grounds on certain nights over a six-week period to encourage people to come out and walk in a safe, well lit location during the dark evenings.

The first track was around the property boundary and was a temporary trail, part grass, part stone and part paved road. Although the pathway, which runs almost 1km all the way around, was easy to follow, the surface of the path needed work. Spa have been hoping to map out a walking track since then, and we are delighted to announce that our hard-working field committee have recently started that task.

Our thanks also to Kerry County Council Community Support Fund for their grant this year towards the project.

The pathway work has commenced but there is still quite a way to go to complete it. We are asking for anyone that might be in a position to offer sponsorship towards the project to please get in touch with the club through 085 821 3027.

Our field committee have done tremendous work all year along with our CE Scheme workers in maintaining the property and working in all weather to keep our fields and grounds in such good condition. Lot of work done, but lots more to do! Very much looking forward to adding a walking track to the facilities available at our club.
