Club Notes (January 17th 2022)

VIGIL FOR ASHLING MURPHY RIP
We will be holding a vigil and lighting candles at the Spa clubhouse this Wednesday January 19th at 7.30pm for Ashling Murphy RIP. Everyone welcome to come and join us.

  

2022 REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Membership for 2022 is now open and can be completed online here on spagaa.com (link on right hand side of the site) or the registrars (Gerard Mangan, Sean O’Sullivan & Shona Daly) will be in Spa over the coming weeks.

 

SENIOR MANAGEMENT
Welcome to our new senior management team led by manager Aidan O’Shea and strength & conditioning coach Aidan Cahill. 2022 looks to be another busy season and the fixtures calendar will be released shortly, with the Co Leagues expected to begin in early March. Details will be announced in due course.

 

CONDOLENCES
Our sympathies to Mick, Ian, Nora and the O'Connell family on the passing of Mick's mother Julia O'Connell RIP, Boherbue. Our condolences also to the O’Callaghan family on the passing of Peggy O’Callaghan (nee Moynihan) RIP, Kilcummin and late of Tiernaboul. May they Rest in Peace.

 

COISTE NA NÓG AGM 
Coiste na nÓg AGM will take place online this Tuesday January 18th at 7.30pm.

SPA LOTTO RESULTS 10/01/22

MUNSTER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS 
Congrats to Gneeveguilla and Na Gaeil on their respective Munster Club Final victories over the weekend and commiserations to Austin Stacks who had a great second half comeback against St Finbarrs but narrowly lost out on the Munster Senior title.

IRELAND LIGHTS UP 
Spa GAA club are once again signed up to participate in the Ireland Lights Up winter walking initiative. With our new walking track, the lights will be on every Wednesday night between 7pm -8pm for the next few weeks.

Participants can follow the walking track that offers a safe off-road path and this activity is open to everyone in the community.

If anyone would be available to help with registration or stewarding any night, all help is greatly appreciated. Any volunteers that can help any evening or any questions please contact Margaret on 0879181970.

SPA KILLARNEY HANDBALL CLUB
Well done to Spa Killarney Handball club players Aoife Walsh, Sinead Moriarty and Niamh Faulds who competed in a Ladies 1-Wall Handball Tournament in Tyrone over the weekend. Congrats to all three who played brilliantly.

Aoife won her category 15-4 in the Final and looked very strong throughout the tournament. Sinead won the doubles tournament, and the score was 21-17 which was a very exciting final and Sinead played some great shots. Niamh played very well the standard was very high and unfortunately, she couldn’t get the win.

Aoife, Sinead & Niamh did the club and county proud.

 

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Brosna’s Tim Murphy who was ratified as the new Vice-Chairman of Munster Council at their convention on Saturday evening.

 

MCGRATH CUP FINAL
Well done to the Kerry team & management on their win over Tipperary last week, with special mention to Dan O'Donoghue & Arthur Fitzgerald. The 2022 McGrath Cup Munster Final between Kerry and Cork will take place next Saturday January 22nd at 2pm in Fitzgerald Stadium.

 

CORN UÍ MHUIRÍ MUNSTER SEMI-FINALS
Well done to St Brendan’s Killarney on their 2-8 to 2-7 win over Coláiste na Sceilge on Saturday afternoon in the Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter final. They will play Hamilton High School Bandon in the semi-final in two weeks with Tralee CBS and Skibbereen CS meeting in the other semi-final.
