Club Notes (July 4th 2022)

SCÓR NA BPÁISTÍ  
Spa are the 2022 Scór na bPaistí Tráth na gCeist county champions! Congrats to the team of Daisy Cremin, Paddy O’Donoghue, Cian Kelly and Daithí Stack who answered 39 out of 40 questions correct to claim the title. Well done to the team and to their coaches Mikey Aherne, Seamus Clifford and Eileen Aherne. Comhghairdeas libh! 

 

SPA GAA GOLF CLASSIC  
Spa GAA Golf Classic will be staged at Killarney Golf Club this Thursday July 7th & Friday July 8th. More than 50 teams of four golfers per team will be taking part in the classic, major sponsors of which are the Killarney Oaks Hotel, Killarney Oils and Tricel. “We’re extremely grateful to all our sponsors, tee-box sponsors and those who have entered teams. Their support is a great help to our club which has grown hugely in recent years,’’ said chairman of the classic organising committee, Billy Morris. The presentation of attractive prizes will be in the Killarney Oaks Hotel at 9.30pm on Saturday night. Good luck to all players taking part and thank you to all who are supporting the event. 

 

CO LEAGUE RD10 SPA 1-9 RATHMORE 1-12 
Spa travelled to Rathbeg on Friday evening for the penultimate round of the Co League. Despite missing a number of players, just a goal separated the sides at the final whistle in a game where things just didn't go right for us on the night. Spa are home to Austin Stacks this Saturday July 9th at 7.30pm in the final round. 

 

SENIOR LADIES THROUGH TO DONAL CURTIN CUP SEMI-FINAL 
The Spa Senior Ladies turned out on Sunday 26th June to play Legion in their home grounds. Conditions were very wet and slippery on the day with a moderate breeze. The Spa Senior ladies had a great start to their game and demonstrated a fantastic game of football the whole way through. Legion put a good fight up until the end, but Spa were the stronger team on the day. The final score Spa 5-8 to Legion 0-4. The Spa Senior Ladies have reached a Semi Final stage in the Donal Curtin Cup. They will play again on Monday 18th July against Austin Stacks, venue to be confirmed. 

 

DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE DIVISION 2 SHIELD FINAL 
The Senior B Development League Division 2 Shield Final between Spa B and Kilcummin B due to be played last Saturday night was called off due to venue. Date of re-fixture to be confirmed. 

 

EAST KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE 
East Kerry Junior League begins this Tuesday July 5th. Spa are in Division 2 with Firies, Kilcummin, Currow and Scartaglin and have a BYE this week in Rd1.  

 

EAST KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP  
The draws for the 2022 O’Donoghue Cup and O’Sullivan Cup East Kerry Championships take place on Thursday July 7th.

ALL IRELAND SEMI-FINALS 
Wishing the best of luck to Dara Moynihan, Dan O’Donoghue, Arthur Fitzgerald and the Kerry senior team and management in the All Ireland Semi-Final next Sunday July 10th against Dublin. The game throws in at 3.30pm and the curtain raiser on the day is the All Ireland Junior Final between New York/Warwickshire and Kilkenny/London at 1pm. Tickets are on sale at participating Centra and Supervalu outlets or online through Ticketmaster.  

 

KERRY LADIES ALL IRELAND QUARTER FINAL
Wishing the best of luck to Cassandra Buckley and the Kerry Ladies team and management in the LGFA Senior Championship quarter final against Armagh next Saturday July 9th at 5pm in Bord na Mona Park, Tullamore.  

 

SPA GAA LOTTO

SPA GAA SUMMER CAMP 
Last chance to book a place on the Spa GAA Up & Active Summer Camp. The camp will take place at the Spa GAA club grounds (Tullig, Killarney V93 KN53) from July 11th - 15th and is open to all primary school children. Activities during the week will include Gaelic football, treasure hunts, rounders, tag rugby, athletics, art, handball & more! Congratulations to Cllr John O’Donoghue who has been elected as new Deputy Mayor for the Killarney Municipal District alongside the newly elected Mayor Niall Kelleher.
