From this Monday May 10th all clubs can return to adult team training with club games (without spectators) allowed from June 7th.

As always, the most accurate and up-to-date information is available on gov.ie or gaa.ie.

KERRY GAA CLUB NEWS
Provisional dates have been made for 2021 local hurling and football season and a draft fixture list distributed to clubs.

The County Senior Football Championship is due to start on Sunday October 24th, with Round 2 one week later. Semi-finals are pencilled in for Sunday November 14th while the Final could be on November 21st or December 4th.

The Club Football Championships would begin with games on Sundays September 5th and 12th. There would be first or second round matches on Sunday September 19th, with games in Rounds 2 and 3 the following Saturday. Round 3 would be completed on Sunday October 3rd, with ¼ Finals a week later. There could be semi-finals and finals on Sundays November 14th and 21st, then finals on November 28th and December 4th.

Time constraints mean the CCC is unable to include a Losers Round in the County Championship and ¼ Finals in the Club Championships. Clubs have been asked which of the two they would prefer. Senior clubs have also been asked about potential semi-finals in the Senior Club Championship.

Matches are still outstanding from last year’s Club Championships and 3 dates have been put aside for these; Sunday August 22nd, Saturdays September 4th and 11th.

There will be County Football League rounds on Sunday June 13, Sun June 20, Sun July 4, Sun July 18 and Sat July 31, with play-offs the following Saturday.  It remains to be seen whether 2 or 3 teams will be promoted and relegated from Divisions.

Dates ranging between June and December have been given for District Board activities.

SPA THANKS CLLR MICHAEL GLEESON FOR HIS YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE
In Spa, a mixture of regret and gratitude met the recent announcement of Michael Gleeson's retirement from representative political life.

In his football career, Mick represented Spa with pride in the green and gold of Kerry, winning 2 All-Ireland senior football medals. He was equally proud of his successes with Spa, including winning 7 O'Donoghue Cup medals. He continued to represent us well during almost 40 years of outstanding public service.

The Spa G.A.A. crest highlights the natural beauty of our area - hills, rivers, lakes, fertile valleys and woods. Maintaining these in pristine condition was a high priority for him. He wished that we would have a healthy and varied environment to enjoy and to pass on to future generations.

His efforts have led to huge improvements to our town and district. Judicious use of his councillor's allocation and his advancing of local improvement schemes mean that many of our roads are more comfortable and safer.

Of particular significance to Spa G.A.A. are the improved access road to our pitch, the erection of public lighting at the entrance and the new surface on the road from Spa Bridge to our field. Many other roads from Gortdromakerrie to Kilbrean bear the imprint of his work.

He took particular pride in getting the roundabout at Lissivigeen named in honour of our Spa-Muckross Olympian Gillian O' Sullivan. Cycle lanes and walkways will help to keep us all healthier and happier.

Táimíd thar a bheith buíoch duit a Mhichíl agus do Caitlín as ucht bhúr dea obair. Tá luach bhur gcuid saothair tuillte agat. Bain taitneamh as.

ROADS UPDATE
At the recent Killarney Municipal meeting, Councillor Michael Gleeson asked the Council for an update on proposals for safety improvements at the Coolcosclough/Upper Lissivigeen and Woodlawn/Ballycasheen junctions with the N22 road.

The Council replied that a traffic light solution is being developed by consultants for the Ballycasheen junction and that pavement improvements to facilitate active travel facilities will be carried out in conjunction with the provision of the traffic lights. It is hope that the project will be completed in 2022.

In relation to the Coolcoslough junction a Roundabout solution is being further appraised in order to ensure that active travel provisions are properly integrated into the overall project. There are ongoing consultations with the TII in relation to this overall development.
