Spa 1-7 Kilcummin 2-10

Venue: Kilcummin 26th May 2022

Spa started well with Michael Kearney scoring the first point of the night in the first few minutes. It took Kilcummin 10 minutes to register their first point. They added another shortly after their full forward claimed a mark and scored on the 13 meter line. Colm Hickey equalized with a free after a foul on Paul Cahill. However, Kilcummin added another 3 points in quick succession. In the 23rd minute Paul Cahill narrowed the gap but that was our last score of the first half. The home side slotted over another 2 from frees to bring the half time score 0-7 to O-3.

Commencement of the second half Sean Hickey replaced Calum Neher. Corner forward Thomas Cronin made a lightning run up the centre and scored a cracking point. Michael Kearney added another from free to narrow the gap to 2. However, Kilcummin scored a goal in the 23rd minute and pulled away with another score from play. Spa were awarded a penalty when Rian O Neill was pulled down in the square. The Goal keeper pulled off a great save on Mikey Moynihan’s attempt on goal. Michael Kearney added another point and Thomas Cronin was very unlucky with a great shot but was just wide of the post. Kilcummin never gave up and added another to their tally from a free. In the last 10 minutes Kilcummin scored their second goal and added another two points to pull further away. Spa continued to dig deep and goalie Olie Cremin kicked a perfect ball to sub David O Sullivan who passed onto the running Mikey Moynihan and ended in the back of the net. Mikey added another point and that was the last score of the evening when the final whistle was blown with a score of Spa 1-7 to Kilcummin 2-10. Hard luck to the team on the night.
