If You Can't Stand Up Stand Out

Repost from Ian O’Connell

….

What I would give to be kicking points and throwing a few punches at the full back again 😂 Football was the one thing that it took me a very very long time to adjust to not being able to play it post accident. To this day it still frustrates me at times not being able to play it 😤😤

I strongly recall having a picture of me playing football on my wall in The Mater hospital. And it used to upset me every time I looked at it. Instead of taking it down and not get upset every time I seen it, I left it up because I told myself it would be the best way to come to terms that I wouldn't play again and it worked. I had to be real with myself. Sometimes your heart needs more time to accept what you're mind already knows. I'm grateful that I am still so involved with my GAA club @spa_gaaand still feel like I am a part of the team 💙💛

Pause and remember, when you fight reality, you will lose every time !
