The Kerry Intermediate Hurling Championship trophy visited Spa last night after Dr Crokes won the Intermediate Final last Sunday.
Spa U12/U14 Girls coach Rory Waters and Spa player Michael ‘Hoggie’ Horgan were members of the Dr Crokes hurling team that defeated Tralee Parnells in the final last weekend. They had the honour of bringing the cup to their home club and proudly show it to the juvenile players and fellow coaches Emma Daly, Susan Waters, Claire Tangney and Tomas Daly.
Although Spa is a football stonghold, both Rory and Hoggie are dual players and under GAA guidelines are able to play hurling with a different club.
The other two times Dr Crokes won the Intermediate Final, in 1999 and 2001, they also had two Spa players with their team that time, Seanie Morris and Brian O’Sullivan Darcy!
Well done lads!
