Munster Intermediate Champions 2009

After winning the Co Intermediate Final in October 2009, Spa went on to represent Kerry in the Munster Intermediate Club Championships. The defeated Carrick Swans GAA Club (Tipperary) by 2-15 to 1-6 in the Munster Intermediate semi-final in Fitzgerald Stadium on November 15th 2009.

From there, they were through to the Munster Intermediate Club Final against Cratloe GAA Club (Clare) on November 29th 2009 at the Mallow GAA grounds. Due to a clash of colours, both clubs wore their county jersey on the day, Spa wearing the green and gold of Kerry and Cratloe wearing the saffron and blue of Clare.

Spa had the better first half and Mike Stam O’Donoghue raised the green flag twice before the break, Spa leading by 2-4 to 0-5 as the sides went in at half time.

The second half was a closer affair, and with seven minutes remaining there were just two points between the sides. Spa however kept battling, and with five late points in quick succession, they won out by 2-11 to 0-10 to collect the club’s first and only Munster Intermediate Club Championship title.
