COFFEE MORNING FOR KERRY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Unfortunately, due to the restrictions now in place under Level 3 of the Covid response, we can no longer host a Spa Coffee Morning next Saturday October 17th. The event was being organised as part of the Kerry Mental Health & Wellbeing Fest taking place all this week, whereby clubs, business and local organisations host their own free event to promote the local and national mental health supports available. We would hope to have a chance to host this event in the future when we can welcome everyone to the clubhouse in a safe environment.
Please visit www.healthykerry.ie for a list of events still taking place as much of the Fest is continuing online this week. The services and organisations involved in the Fest are always in need of helpers, so if anyone is available to volunteer with any of the groups or organisations listed, please contact them directly.
JUVENILE TRAINING
The Juvenile Academy for 2020 came to an end last Saturday. Thank you to all the players, coaches, parents and volunteers who were part of this year’s Saturday morning Academy for boys & girls ages 3-10. We hope to return in the new year, stay tuned for details or contact our Coiste na nOg Secretary Andrew on 0871385612.
And to mark the last day of the Academy, there was a very special visitor on the day - the Bishop Moynihan Cup. The Cup was on hand with some of the Spa players with the winning East Kerry team - Dan O’Donoghue (East Kerry captain), Shane Cronin, Eoin Fitzgerald and Evan Cronin. The young players at the Academy met their heroes and had the opportunity to congratulate the county champions, and they got to take some photos, while social distancing due to Covid restrictions.
As there were no homecoming celebrations in Spa this year, as is the honour of the winning captain’s club, it was a fantastic opportunity for our young members to welcome the Cup to Spa. Well done to Seamus, Anne and all who organised this, and thank you to Dan, Eoin, Evan and Shane. (Photos: Anne Holland)

ALL GAA CLUB GAMES SUSPENDED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT
Announcement from the GAA on October 5th: The GAA’s Management Committee has today endorsed a decision to suspend all GAA Club games at all levels with immediate effect and until further notice. The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety following a number of incidents that have been brought to our attention in recent days. In particular, post-match celebrations and a lack of social distancing at certain events have proved disappointing and problematic. This directive applies to all ages and all grades across the island.
Club Social Centres / bars are also to close. Training will continue to be permitted as per the guidelines outlined for the relevant levels in the Government's National Framework for Living with Covid 19 and relevant guidelines in the Six Counties. The GAA will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and weeks, regarding changes in government guidelines, before liaising with our units accordingly. The Association would also like to acknowledge all of those units who have worked diligently in complying with the public health advice around the staging of our games and training sessions since activity resumed. More than ever, we ask that you continue with this approach regarding training sessions.
