Two in a Row as Spa Dancers crowned All Ireland Scor Sinsear Set Dancing Champions!

Congratulations to our set dancers who were crowned All Ireland Scór Sinsear Set Dancing Champions last night!

The All Ireland Finals took place at the INEC Killarney on Saturday May 11th and late in the evening Spa were announced as Scór Sinsear All Ireland Set Dancing champions for a second year in a row!

They were competing against Effin GAA Club (Roscommon & Connaught champions), St Joseph’s GAA Club (Westmeath & Leinster champions) and Glenullin GAA club (Derry & Ulster champions).

A fantastic achievement for our talented dancing superstars and huge congratulations also to their mentors Triona and Mairead Mangan and our Scór Officer Michael Aherne. The dancing team included Liam Spillane, Gary O’Sullivan, Kianan O’Doherty, Darragh Brosnan, Aine Brosnan, Meghann Cronin, Anna O’Connor and Katie O’Connor.

This was nearly the same team that defended their title except for Darragh Brosnan who received his first senior title. In fact, Darragh is the holder of the current Scor na nÓg All Ireland title. A huge achievement for such a talented young dancer.

The other seven dancers are the holders of their second Scór Sinsear Rince Seit title.

This is not overnight that these titles were achieved as they’ve been dancing with the Mangan School of Dancing from the tender age of 4 years of age. The last three years East Kerry are the holders with Gneeveguilla winning in 2022.

Spa won their first Scór Sinsear set dancing title last year after a famine of fifteen years.

The Mangan sisters are the holders of 23 All Ireland titles. Triona has eleven and Mairead with a very impressive twelve, surely a record in Scór. They are also mentors of 8 All Ireland titles (2 Senior Scór, 1 Rince Foirne and 5 Rince Set).

There is one set of sisters in the group Anna and Katie O’Connor and one set of cousins Liam Spillane and Gary O’Sullivan.  

This is Spa’s fifteenth title in Scór Sinsear with fourteen in dancing:

Solo Singing: Siobhan O’Brien 1990

Rince Foirne: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2016

Rince Seit: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2023 and 2024
