Played in a sunny but windy Fitzgerald stadium, both teams served up a thrilling game of football. It was a great advert for the game with only the barest of minimum between the teams at the end. Playing in to scoreboard end and against the breeze Spa more than held their own. Playing some great passing movements to counter the breeze. Half time score 1-4 v 0-7.
Second half Spa had a few chances to build on their lead but the break through came 10 minutes into the second half after when they scored a goal following a great passing move. With a little over 10 minutes remaining Spa were 5 points up and again just missed a few chances to extend their lead. Kilcummin came up the field and snatched 2 quick goals in succession with only 3 minutes to go. Spa tried hard to get an equaliser but unfortunately it was not meant to be on this occasion.
A super effort by the players on the night and throughout the phase 1 and 2.
Afterwards the players and parents came together for some pizzas and refreshments at the clubhouse. A big thank you to all who helped on the night.
Training continues for this group on Tuesday and Friday nights 6-7 pm. The East Kerry competition will be announced in the coming weeks.
