Spa u14 girls had their last match of the league away in Finuge against Finuge/St.Senans last Saturday. Spa were missing a few players and had just the bare 15 so when 3 of our girls got injured during the game it meant every girl out there had to give their all and that they did.
It was a great display of football from both sides. Finuge/ St.Senans displayed great defensive skills despite constant attack from our forwards, Aoife O’Connell, Lara O’Neill and Grace O’Shea. Yet again an incredible work rate from our midfielders Ciara O’Donoghue and Ciara O’Sullivan kept us in it, with O’Sullivan scoring a cracking goal.
Spa’s defence was very strong with Emily-Kate Waters, Muireann Spillane and Síofra Brosnan playing brilliantly. A special mention has to go to Casey Mulry for excellent goalkeeping on the night.
They gave a very gutsy performance and definitely emptied the tank out in the pitch, they held most of the possession but our finishing let us down on the day. Finuge/St.Senans were the winners 2-10 to 1-3.
Scorers for Spa were Ciara O’Sullivan (1-0), Aoife O’Connell (0-1),Caoimhe O’Neill ((0-1), Lara O’Neill (0-1).
Coaches would like to thank all the girls for their brilliant effort all through the league and we’d especially like to thank their parents for driving the girls and supporting them in all their matches.
Training for u14 girls will recommence on Tuesday 17th August 6.30-7.30 after a well deserved break.
