O'Donoghue Cup

Spa 2-19, Scartaglen 1-4The opening game of the East Kerry O Donoghue cup took place at home. We settled well in the first half with Mike Stam O'Donoghue back to form after his recent injury. In fact, Stam was the top scorer of the day.  Spa pulled away even further popping over some excellent scores from Conor Stack, Ciaran Spillane, Liam Kearney and Paudie O'Donoghue. Dara Moynihan had a great game, and even the recent events and media circus  couldn't slow him down. Spa were the superior team on the day and deserved the victory but Scartaglen didn't make it easy for them to advance to the next round!Sun 11th @2pm away to Rathmore.

Spa Senior Ladies are CO Champions

Spa Ladies won the coveted Junior A Championship cup last Sunday.  They had tough competition against Milltown/Listry in sunny Castleisland. This win was a great team effort from the goalie Linda Bruggener, pulling off some great saves. Our backs Sinead Cronin, Kate Maher, Mairead Bennett and Elizabeth Stack were superb. Loretta Maher controlled the centre of the pitch, while our forwards were on song. Lynn Jones notched up great scores along with Mairead Finnegan. Young Ciara Moynihan was all over the pitch - but player of the match would go to the energiser Claire Moynihan, who ran every blade of the field to defend and score to help secure our victory.Well done to everyone on the team, and mentors Tim O Connor and Donal O Doherty. They meet the winners of Cork on Oct 6th. Captain Cassandra Buckley received the winning cup from Kerry Ladies Co Board PRO Dan Kearney.
