Spa U-10 Spa boys versus Fossa Friday 15th May 7pm at Spa. U-12 girls Spa Inbhersceine Gaels A nail biting game that was very exciting till the final whistle. Laura O'Carroll scored a hat trick was in flying form. Excellent performances from Chloe Jones, Grainne Spillane, Aisling Cahill, Clodagh O'Connor, Erin Holland, Sarah Fleming and Aoibhe O'Doherty. Last game of the Preliminary rounds finds them in Division 2 for the Co. League. U-14 Girls Next game away to Currow on the 24th. U-16 Girls A well deserved break for the U-16 girls.

Spa v St. Mary’s: Round 4 of Div.2 Co. League Spa 3-11: St Mary’s 1-10 This match was played in terrible conditions in Spa on Sunday 10th May. Despite the torrential rain both teams produced some excellent football and the game was played in a very sporting manner throughout. Spa lined out as selected and St. Mary’s had two changes to their starting line out. Anthony Cournane and Sean O'Shea started and contributed a point each in the first half. Sap got off the mark first with a point from a free by Ml. O'Donoghue in the first minute followed by a point from Daniel Daly for St. Mary’s in the 5th minute. Craig Hickey struck for a goal for Spa in the 6th minute after being set up from another great run forward by Shane Cronin. Spa found the net again in the 10th minute when Ciaran Spillane struck a great shot to the bottom corner of the St. Mary’s goal from 21 metres out. Mike Finnegan, Liam Kearney, Cormac Cronin, Craig Hickey and Mike McCarthy all added a point each for Spa in the first half. Despite this good start by Spa St. Mary’s did not lie down and produced some great scores also .Jack Daly and Daniel Daly added 3 between them. However, the best two points of the first half came from the boot of Denis Daly who scored two points from the 45 metre line at the end of the first half. This left the score at half time; Spa 2-05, St. Mary’s 0-08. Spa got off to a great start in the second half with a goal from Ryan O'Carroll and a point from Craig Hickey after just 2 minutes. This left the Cahersiveen side chasing the game and Spa went on to secure the 2 points. Liam Kearney, Ml. O'Donoghue, Ciaran Spillane and Ryan O'Carroll all added points for Spa in the second half. St. Mary’s only scored 1-02 the second half, Daniel Daly getting 1-01 and Paul O'Donoghue scoring a point.Final score: Spa 3-11, St. Mary’s 1-10. Spa Team: James Devane, Ml. A skilful footballer who played in all grades for the club and assisting them to victory in U-I4 U-I5 and county minor league competitions. For the record the members of the winning 1975 county minor league team trained by the late Timmy Joe o Sullivan were --Kevin Cronin, Seanie Kelliher, Sean Cronin, Neil Doherty, Danno O'Sullivan, Willie Cahill, Dan O'Leary, Mike O'Leary, Pat Cronin, Derry O'Mahoney, Adrian Ryan Paul Maguire, John F O'Connor, Billy Tangney, John Cahill. Though domiciled abroad for many years he still remained in contact with some of his former Spa team mates and was due to return to Killarney for a College class reunion at the time of his tragic death, Sympathy from all in Spa is extended to his wife and family. May He Rest In Peace.Walk in The Footsteps of Joan Herlihy Saturday May 30th The premature passing of Joan Herlihy Lissivigeen Cross few short months ago came as a huge shock to both her family and the members of the local community in which she was deeply immersed as a member of many voluntary organisations, Her husband Dave son Paul and daughter Laura very much appreciate the level of care which she received from the staff of the Oncology Department Kerry General Hospital during her prolonged illness which included Dr Jeffri -Ismail as well as nurses Abbie, Theresa, Sinead and Michelle and as a gesture of their appreciation of same they have organised two walks in the Muckross area on Saturday May 30th with all proceeds being donated to the Oncology Department KGH.Walk I will be a (3-4) hour walk over Mangerton Mountain.commencing at IIam with registration at 10am in Mangerton Car Park, Walk 2 comprising (1-2 hours) will be around Muckrosss & Dinis and commencing at 1pm with registration at 12am in The Old Schoolhouse Muckross Car Park, Voluntary contributions will be collected on the day, The day will conclude with refreshments and entertainment at the Torc Hotel as well as music by Rosie & Derry Healy, Jimmy Doyle and friends with Batty O'Sullivan as MC Further information from Dave 087 62975I4 or Paul 085 7504477.
