U14 Girls Spa v John Mitchels

Match report for U14’s girls

Spa U14 girls finished 2nd in the Non County Player league winning 3 out their 4 matches and so progressed to a quarter final which was played in Spa on Sunday 24th against John Mitchels.

Spa started strong and opened the scoring with a point and a goal before John Mitchels settled themselves with a point. Spa took control again with 3 more goals and 3 points. Mitchels stayed in touch though and scored 2 goals and 1 point before half time. Spa went into the break leading 4-7 to 2-2.

Mitchels burst out of the blocks in the second half and scored 3 unanswered goals and were very unlucky to not score a forth when they hit the crossbar. It was a very tight affair and a great battle which displayed great skill from both sides but Spa yet again dug deep in the last quarter with another 3 goals and 2 points added to the scoreboard. Frustration seeped in in the dying minutes of the game and unfortunately cards were shown to players on both sides which did not reflect on how well the game was being played. Spa worked brilliantly as a team and fought hard for every ball and never gave up. Huge credit and thanks has to go to our U12 girls who stepped up yet again, Aoife O’Sullivan, Ava Brosnan, Lily O’Shea and Sheolagh Daly.

Spa came away the winners with a score of 7-09 to 6-02 and now move forward to the semifinals.

Scorers for Spa were:

Caoimhe O’Neill 3-02

Ciara O’Sullivan 2-01

Ava Brosnan 1-03

Kirsten Kenny 1-02

Clodagh O’Connor 0-01
