Our Spa Senior Ladies played Austin Stacks Ladies on Sunday November 5th 2017 in the Co League Division 3 Final, played in Farranfore. In a thrilling game, Spa emerged victorious by one point to earn promotion to Division 2 status for the following year. Final score Spa 2-10 Austin Stacks 3-6.

The girls started well, keeping the Tralee side to three scores for the first 25 minutes. Spa were definitely the stronger team in the opening half and led by 2-6 to 1-3 at the break.
In the second half, however, Stacks started strong right from the throw-in, scoring 1-2 n quick succession. Spa settled again with great points from Mairead Finnegan and Ciara Moynihan. Brilliant saves from Linda Bruggener kept Spa in the game with excellent defence work from Elizabeth Stack, Mairead Bennett and captain Katie O’Brien. Austin Stacks managed to draw the game once but Spa’s Cassandra Buckley and Loretta Maher lorded the centre and kept vital possession.
As well as promotion to Division 2 for the following year, the Spa Ladies would also be promoted to Junior A status for 2018 after other successful competitions during the year. Spa clinched three titles in 2017 under the management of Tim O’Connor and Donal O’Doherty.
