Joan nee O'Shea Molloy retired from Spa during the week  and we will miss her enormously. Joan kept the clubhouse spotlessly clean for the past 4 years. Always greeted you with a smile on her face and was very helpful to everyone she met. It's with great regret that we lose Joan through retirement but she certainly doesn't look her age. She did her work energetically and with pride. We wish Joan every good wish in her retirement, with her husband Hans, in Castle Falls, Ross Road. Joan was one of our hard working Fás workers and thanks to Donie Foley for all his assistance in this role.

Community Notes

This week, we received the welcome news from London, that our former clubman and a native son, Noel O'Sullivan, has been honoured as The Killarney London Association Person Of The Year 2016. He received this accolade at the recent annual re-union function, which he richly deserves. Akin, to all the O'Sullivan "Farmer" clan from Ballaugh. Noel played in the under-age grade with Spa before emigrating to London in 1970s and soon become deeply immersed in many social and  sporting activities in his adopted land. Most notably, the Gaelic Athletic Association, in which he filled so many organising roles and was also deeply involved in the Killarney/London Association.
While Noel was serving so many organisations in the greater London area, other members of the O'Sullivan family were very much involved with the local Spa GAA club. Donie was involved in the revival of the senior team in 1966 and was a member of the panel which won the O'Donoghue Cup in that season. While Andy during his tenure as chairman, played a major role in the development of the club's excellent facilities. Today, the tradition has been carried on by their nephew, Adrian, who occupies the position of PRO of Spa Coiste na nÓg. The O'Sullivan family, have made a notable contribution to community life, both locally and abroad, over many years. Noel carries best wishes from his many friends in the greater Spa area.

Job Opportunity: Cleaner Vacancy

Spa are looking for a cleaner to replace the brilliant Joan who will be retiring shortly. Please contact The Local Community Scheme for details on the eligibility for this job scheme. Email Killarney Area Sport and Leisure Ltd kaslltd.project@yahoo.com or ring 064 6638973.
