Underage Training 6-10 boys and girls continues as normal this Saturday.Spa under 12 boys played their last group game of phase 2 Division 3, away to Legion last Sunday, on very hot and sunny evening. The blues won their game, claiming top spot in division 3A. The golds drew their game, securing 2nd spot in division 3B. They only lost one game in both phases of their county games & that was by a single point. Plus they were under strength on the same night. The blues were unbeaten in all their games in both phases of the county league. The Coaches can't speak highly enough of these group of boys, their skill, determination, heart is unbelievable. Each & every boy is a credit to Spa GAA club & more importantly to their families. The Coaches would like to thank the families & friends of the boys for their great support, it got us through some tough games this year.

Evan Cronin and Daithi Griffin exchanged further points before Darren Dineen slotted the ball past James Devane for the first goal of the day. Ciaran Spillane replied with a Spa goal at the other end but Ardfert replied immediately when Bobby Regan rattled the net for a second Ardfert goal to make it 1-5 to 2-2 coming up on half time. Spa were attacking again shortly after but Evan Cronin's effort was well saved by Nicky Sullivan as points from Eoin Cronin and Mike O'Donoghue gave Spa the advantage at the break 1-7 to 2-2.Shane Cronin and John Egan swapped points before David Spillane made a long run through and scored Spa's second goal and Shane Cronin hit the back a minute later to stretch the Spa lead to 3-8 to 2-3. U-12 Boys

Spa under 12 boys played their second game in phase 2 of the county league last Sunday week away to Listowel Emmet's. The 2 games were played to a very high standard, with both the blues & golds giving their best. The blues drew their game & the golds won their game. The coaches could not have asked for more from the boys. Both teams are still unbeaten in their county games this season. We will hope to continue this form with a home game against Ardfert this Sunday coming. Training again on Wednesday evening 6-7pm. Speedy recovery to Steven Wickhem who injured his hand.

Senior Co League Rd 4: Spa 1-18 Beaufort 1-11

Spa secured two more Co. League points last Friday night with a home win against Beaufort. Beaufort were attacking from early on but David Carroll had a great day between the posts, pulling of four saves in the first half. Mike O'Donoghue kicked Spa's first point but Beaufort edged into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 10 minutes. Another point from Mike O'Donoghue and three great points from Evan Cronin levelled the game 0-5 apiece. More scores from Evan, Cormac Cronin, Mike O'Donoghue and Mike McCarthy gave Spa the lead at the break, 0-9 to 0-8. David Spillane extended that lead on the restart but a Beaufort goal, after a scramble in the small square, edged the visitors in front temporarily. Points from Mike McCarthy, Mike O'Donoghue (2) and Evan Cronin followed before David Spillane's first attack rolled across the Beaufort goalmouth and wide. Mike O'Donoghue pointed again before Spillane was on target with his second shot to move Spa ahead 1-15 to 1-10. Played Skellig/ Rangers/Valentia in the county league at home on Monday evening. Rian O’Neill worked very hard around the middle setting up Eoghan Mulvany on a couple of occasions who coolly slotted two early goals to the net giving the boys in blue at half time lead of 3-5 to 1-9. On the resumption the physically bigger South Kerry lads began to take some great long distance scores. However some fantastic defending Bailey O’Sullivan and phenomenal work rate by Timmy Moynihan kept the Spa lads in touch. However despite more fantastic scores by Spa including an outstanding point by Sean Hickey were unable to hold out losing by 4-17 to 4-11.
