Fossa started well and jumped into a 2-6 lead before Spa scored their first point, the two Fossa goals coming from Killian Buckley and William O'Brien. Spa did get one first half goal from Roirí O'Connor but Dean Sheehan netted a third Fossa goal late in the half and Spa were trailing 1-2 to 3-10 at half time.
A better second half saw Spa come more into the game and notch up more scores. A fourth Fossa goal at the start of the second half from William O'Brien had the visitors leading 4-11 to 1-3 early on. A hatrick from Spa's Cian Murphy reduced the gap by the full time whistle, the game finishing Spa 4-7 Fossa 4-18.

U14 Boys: Spa 2-16 Glenflesk 5-14
A great game of football that could have gone either way until the last few minutes resulting in Spa losing to Glenflesk in the league at home. Glenflesk were superior for the first fifteen minutes with some excellent scores. However, our young team replied with class points to narrow the deficit. We played great football with excellent passing and unlucky to register a few more scores.
Great play from the full back line of Chris Healy, David O Sullivan and Cian Russell. Our attacking half back line lead by Danny Coffey. Forward line never gave up and up until the last few minutes we were just one point down with great scores from Luke O Neill, Oran Daly, Kalvin O Sullivan, Aidan Cronin, Emmet Spillane and Liam O Leary. Sub goalie Conor Sowerby played his part taking over from Aaron O Connor who pulled off great saves to keep us in the game.
Overall an entertaining well-balanced team, who no doubt will learn from this loss. They will develop stronger as a team with the help from management of Michael Finnegan, David O Sullivan, Des Spillane and Pat O Neill in the next round of the league.

Spa were the superior team in the first half holding Milltown/Listry to three scores heading into the second half 3-9 to 1-2. However, the second half the visitors put the pressure on and scored 1-2 before we registered our first score from the very impressive Niamh Kearney. The excellent work from the defence to the midfield helped us keep our lead and win two valuable points in the league. Our senior ladies played well as a team with a great mixture of experience and youth.

Spa and Crokes met in Spa on Saturday evening and, with just a point or two separating the teams for most of the game, it was the home side that eventually came out on top.
Niall McCarthy was first on the scoreboard but Crokes responded immediately with two points from Kieran O'Leary and one from Michael Casey to lead 0-3 to 0-1. Niall McCarthy (2) and Brian Looney swapped scores before Niall O'Mahony levelled the game at 0-4 apiece at the quarter hour mark.
Spa will feel aggrieved not to have a penalty call after David Spillane hit the ground, but Crokes reacted swiftly, converting an additional three points from Mark Fitzgerald, Michael Casey and Alan O'Sullivan. They almost rattled the Spa net too but James Devane pulled off a brilliant save. Michael Foley and Niall O'Mahony exchanged points with Chris Brady and Kieran O'Leary to keep the three point gap between the sides.
A point from Jack Griffin briefly extended that lead as half time approached, before a great run by Niall O'Mahony was finished to the Crokes net by Ciaran Spillane in the 33rd minute. At the half time whistle the narrowest of margins separated the sides at Spa 1-6 Crokes 0-10.
Kieran O'Leary increased the Crokes advantage but a point from the outstanding Shane Cronin was quickly followed by another from Niall McCarthy to level the game at 1-8 to 0-11. Chris Brady and Kieran O'Leary again put two between the teams but Spa continued to battle hard and Dan O'Donoghue's effort bounced off the crossbar and dropped between the posts. James Devane pulled off another super one-on-one save before Gary Vaughan bolted up the wing and punched the ball over the bar to level matters yet again with ten minutes remaining.
Shortly thereafter, Crokes were reduced to 14 men with the influential Kieran O'Leary sent to the line, but that didn't deter them as they quickly took the lead again with a Michael Casey point. Niall McCarthy kicked his fifth of the day to draw the game level again at 1-11 to 0-14 with five minutes remaining.
Mark O'Shea edged Crokes in front once more with a great point but Spa were soon attacking again at the other end, when a bullet of a shot from Cormac Cronin hit the crossbar and Shane Cronin collected the rebound and scored and the sides were even again at 1-12 to 0-15 with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Spa showed great character in the final few minutes and a brilliant Shane Cronin point tipped the inside of the post and dropped behind the goal to give Spa the lead for the first time since the opening score. Ryan O'Carroll finished the insurance point in the fifth minute of injury time and Spa, for the first time in years, defeated neighbours Crokes by 1-14 to 0-15.

Fleadh Cheoil Chiarrai
Well done to everyone from Spa who was involved in the Co. Fleadh in Milltown last weekend. Huge achievement for the local Comhaltas branch CCE Cill Airne in the FLeadh Cheoil Chiarrai held in Milltown at the beautiful Nagle Rice Community Centre.
The dance troupes went home with 13 gold and four silver medals. These accolades didn't come easy especially with the high standard in Kerry. Our dancers practiced almost every night, even with some sitting leaving and junior certs etc. The parents are a huge cog in this wheel of success with their dedication.
Special thanks to dance coaches Triona Mangan and Mairead Mangan and their mom Ann the secretary of the branch. Our mascot Reidín was outstanding with helping all the dancers on the stage. Last but not least our superb musicians Sean O Laoithe and Damien Mullane who blew us away with their talent and lifted the roof off with their tunes.
Best of luck to all competitors who head to Ennis for the Munster Fleadh in July.
U12 Boys Group 1
Our 2019 County League campaign came to a conclusion on Sunday with a one point loss away to Austin Stacks on a scoreline of Spa 3-13 Austin Stacks 3-14. Trailing by 4 points after as many minutes, one might have been forgiven for thinking this was going to be a long night especially as we were missing one or two regular starters and fielded a team with 3 U-10 boys. But true to form, this group of boys dug deep to come back into the game and went in at half time a point behind on a score of Spa 2-06 Austin Stacks 1-10. We started the second half very brightly and at one point held a 4 point advantage over the Tralee Club. Austin Stacks themselves worked hard to get back into it and two second half goals by them saw us concede the advantage by the slenderest of margins.
We had a number of chances at the end to level the score but it just didn’t materialise for us.
Overall it was a very competitive competition with all teams taking points off each other, there were some fabulous passages of play, resolute defending and silky scores on display in all matches over the league. The boys can be very proud of themselves and are well able to hold their own at this level.
A Special thank you to the second team and to Tom Moynihan and John O'Donoghue for managing same. This was not an easy task for this team, the majority of which play their football at U-10 Level.
They competed strongly and are a credit to their coaches and their parents for the manner in which they performed. The first team would not have had the opportunity to participate in this tournament without your support, so on behalf of all the first team & first team management Adrian, Denis and Mike, many thanks for your support.
Next up is the East Kerry League at home to Legion next Sunday @ 12.00
U12 Boys Group 2
Well done to our U12 B team who took on a strong Austin Stacks team back in Tralee in our final game on Sunday evening, our players played fantastic showing great skill and determination and have improved so much since their first game, a special thanks also to our 2 girls Muireann and Casey who have been outstanding for us throughout the competition.

Junior EK League: Spa 0-10 Kilcummin 0-17
The game opened with a point each from Ryan Kelliher and Ivor Moynihan, but with several long passages of play, and a number of wides for both sides, it was in the 21st minute before the next score came. Paul Cahill pointed for Spa before Kilcummin kicked an unanswered five from Anthony O’Sullivan, Oscar O’Connor (2), Danny Cronin and Paul O’Riordan. Late in the half Ryan Kelliher and Mikey Moynihan added to the Spa tally and at the break Kilcummin led by 0-6 to 0-4.

Additional points from Paul Cahill, Ryan Kelliher and John Falvey and points from Oscar O’Connor, Anthony O’Sullivan and Ritchie O’Connor levelled the game again at 0-9 apiece going into the final quarter. U12 Boys Co. League: Spa 2-15 Ballymac 5-09
Round 4 of County League took place Sunday evening in Spa against Ballymac. A very competitive affair but one which started badly for our boys who conceded 3-01 inside the opening 8 minutes. Following this, we regained composure and grew more into the game. We kicked 1-08 to Ballymac’s 3-04 to go in at half time two points in arrears.
In contrast to how we started the first half, we started the second half very brightly, kicking 1-02 to no score that put us back into the lead, both teams kicked a number of points however, unfortunately we conceded 2 goals in the last 15 minutes of the game handing back the advantage to Ballymac. We pressed hard for a goal to level up the scores but unfortunately Ballymac held out to win by 3 points – Spa 2-15 Ballymac 5-09. Our last game is away to Austin Stacks with date and time to be confirmed.
U12 Girls
Played our last U12 game away to Finuge/St Senans. Our girls played very well and very unlucky with some scores. At half time we were three points down. On resumption of the second half we started well but the home side pulled away to snatch victory.
Girls U14 Non Co League
Spa played ISG B at home last Saturday evening. An evenly matched game and we showed great skill and determination. This is a very young team and have improved with every outing. However, the visitors notched up a few goals and we couldn't narrow the margin.
