Spa Mothers & Others Shine at National Blitz in Dublin

Spa Mothers & Others proudly represented both Spa GAA and Kerry LGFA at the National Blitz on Saturday, setting off for Dublin at 5.30am full of excitement and determination. The long bus journey did little to dampen spirits, and by the time the team arrived at Naomh Mearnóg GAA grounds, the sight of so many teams gathered created a real buzz of anticipation.

From the lively warm-up to the first throw-in, the enthusiasm, spirit, and pride of the Spa women was clear to see. Placed in a group with teams from Antrim, Armagh, Carlow, Leitrim, and Dublin, Spa faced a total of five challenging matches — and they rose to the occasion in style.

Unfortunately, Spa’s corner-forward, Breda Murphy, picked up an injury during the opening game. In true Mothers & Others spirit, every teammate rallied around Breda with encouragement and support, showcasing the strong bond within the group.

Throughout the day, Spa produced some excellent football, demonstrating teamwork, skill, and determination. Just as importantly, they built friendships and connections with other clubs across the country. Many opposition teams expressed their eagerness to visit Spa in the future, having already heard glowing reports about the club’s top-class facilities during the recent Club 7’s event.

The day was a wonderful celebration of football, fitness, and fun. A massive thank you must go to the LGFA for organising such a fantastic event. Spirits are already high in Spa, with the countdown to next year’s Blitz well underway!
